The Commission for Europe of the World Tourism Organization gathers in Tirana

Albania will be the headline of European tourism as it will for the first time welcome the meeting of the Commission for Europe of the World Tourism Organization, on April 7-9.

The 70th meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe is set to convene in Tirana, with Ministers of Tourism and high-ranking officials from 40 European nations expected to attend. The agreement to host this gathering was signed by Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro and World Tourism Organization Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili during the International Tourism Fair ITB Berlin 2024 in March. This meeting will also feature an accompanying Investment Forum.

This significant tourism event follows Albania’s recognition as a “Place of Honor” at the prestigious International Tourism Fair ITB Berlin 2025, a month prior. Albania’s tourism prowess was further underscored by its topping of the World Tourism Organization’s rankings for tourist influx in Europe for the year 2023. Notably, Albania welcomed over 10 million foreign visitors in 2023, achieving a record high. Early data from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment indicates that during the initial two months of 2024, Albania hosted approximately 1 million foreign tourists, further solidifying its position as a premier tourist destination in Europe.
