Albania

The National Tourism Agency organized a several-day visit with the highest representatives of the German Travel Association (DRV), headed by the President of the Association, Mr. Norbert Fiebig and the CEOs  of the Tourist Agencies, who came to Albania driven by the high interest of German tourists to take a close look at the great tourist potential that our country offers.

Accompanied by the General Director of the National Tourism Agency, Ms. Zana Çela, the German Travel Association visited the premises of the Vocational High School “Salih Ceka” in the city of Elbasan where they were received by the Mayor of Elbasan, Mr. Gledian Llatja.

He appreciated this important investment of the Albanian government in cooperation with Swiss and German government donations, where 600 students study, among them 200 in the Hotelier– Tourism branch as well as in tailoring cabinets, solar panels, voltaic photos, thermo-hydraulics.

Between the beautiful Albanian Riviera and cultural heritage, through suggestions of the main destinations of the National Tourism Agency, the group traveled to Gjirokastra of UNESCO with a walk at the Bazaar, beautiful cobbled streets, stops at the Ethnographic Museum, the home of our great writer Ismail Kadare, where the Mayor Mr. Flamur Golemi received them. At the castle of Argjiro, they enjoyed the rhythms and sounds of the National Folk Festival.

Then the visit to Butrint, the UNESCO World Heritage site, left a stunning impression on German tour operators, who considered this archaeological site of Albania to be an elite offering to German tourists.

At the end of the visit to Albania, the German Travel Association also held a meeting with some of the leaders of the Albanian Tour Operators Associations and Albanian hoteliers, who presented their hotels in Golem, Durres and expressed their interest to cooperate with DRV in promoting Albanian tourism and welcoming German tourists in Albania.

The General Director of the Albanian National Tourism Agency, Ms. Zana Çela, unveiled as an added value for Albanian tourism, the National Calendar of Cultural Tourism and Tradition Events and the TEA App (Tourism Events of Albania). This App enables tourists to explore from their mobile phone and become part of the cultural heritage, sports and artistic activities by selecting them according to preference, age, date or destination.
