Summer’s Day, 24 hours of celebration in the capital
Summer Day, the traditional holiday, which is dedicated to the renewal of nature and the spring blossoming after the cold winter, will be celebrated in Tirana in a 24-hour celebration with a total of 34 activities spread throughout the capital. The festivities will enliven key locations such as the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, the former Block area, the expansive Park of the Artificial Lake, “Skënderbej” square, the bustling sidewalks near the government buildings ensemble, and Parku Rinia. These areas will serve as the backdrop for a rich program of activities curated by the City Hall, promising entertainment for both adults and children alike.
The celebratory program will include concerts, dances, flower fairs showcasing local products, traditional balls, and an assortment of summer-themed events, ensuring a day filled with joy and excitement.
Originally observed in the city of Elbasan and various regions across the country, Summer Day is steeped in pagan tradition. Symbolically, the bun represents the dessert of March 14, while the lace intricately woven with white and red threads symbolizes the advent of spring. Over the years, March 14 has evolved into a cherished National Holiday, highlighted in the TEA National Tourism Calendar.
